Liposuction With BodyBanking®
Liposuction is a technique that can help men shape and contour the body to give a more athletic, lean, and attractive physique.Specially trained members specialize in male liposuction are proud to offer their patients their extensive experience and expertise. Liposuction is the single most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. today. Liposuction sculpts the body by removing fat that is unwanted from male patients that have yet responded to diet and exercise programs.
Liposuction removes fat from the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Male patients consider liposuction for their “love handles” (waist) which is one of the most common areas chosen. Liposuction does not only offer the opportunity for a slimmer contoured body, but it also ensures that these areas will not accumulate fatty deposits in the future.
Specially trained members know that all male patients are different, in their body shapes and what they hope to achieve with liposuction. Specially trained members are trained to take as much time as necessary during every pre-operative consultation to understand what the patient wants, and to decide which liposuction technique suits best for their male patient.
Before patients can undergo liposuction, their candidacy must first be determined by a qualified plastic surgeon. The best candidate is someone who is in good health, is within 25 pounds of his or her ideal body weight, and has deposits of fat that have not responded to diet or exercise. The candidate should exceed over the age of 18 and meet the qualifications necessary for liposuction.
Liposuction is not considered a weight loss procedure, and stretch marks or cellulite cannot be removed by it. The treatment is only able to remove small, localized concentrations of fat. In most cases, the removal of ten pounds of fat or less from the treated area. Someone who is at a healthy weight but is considering subtle body contouring is the ideal liposuction candidate. Specially trained members goals are to provide the best liposuction results for male patients in Los Angeles.
Liposuction Procedures for Men
The liposuction procedure for men begins with the injection of a solution containing saline (salt water), a local anesthetic, and a small amount of adrenaline to decrease bruising and bleeding. This is known as either the tumescent or super-wet technique, depending on the ratio of the fluid to the fatty tissue being removed.
Once this solution has been introduced into the area planned for liposuction treatment, the doctor proceeds with one of two different methods of liposuction currently approved by plastic surgeons: suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) or ultrasonic-assisted Lipectomy (UAL).
In both methods, a tiny incision is made in a discreet place. In SAL, a cannula (small tube) is added and moved back and forth beneath the skin, breaking up the fat layer and suctioning it out. In UAL, ultrasonic energy is used to liquefy the fat before it is suctioned out with a cannula.
Depending on the amount of fat extracted, the liposuction surgery for men may last from 1-5 hours in the specially trained member’s clinic.
After liposuction, drainage tubes, compression garments, and antibiotics may be needed to facilitate the healing process for recovery. Male patients are pushed to walk as soon as they are able, and many can return to work within a few days.Any activity that requires any strain of the body should be avoided for about a month’s time.
During the recovery of liposuction, a compression garment or elastic bandages cover treatment areas once your procedure is completed. This allows the control of swelling and compresses the skin to your new body contours.
Also, small temporary drains may be placed in existing incisions beneath the skin to remove any excess blood or fluid.
Specific instructions will be given that include:
How to care for the surgical site and drains
Medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection
Specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health
When to follow up with your plastic surgeon
Be sure to ask your plastic surgeon specific questions about what you can expect during your individual recovery period:
- Where will I be taken after my surgery is complete?
- What medication will I be given or prescribed after surgery?
- Will I have dressings/bandages after surgery?
- How long will I wear the compression garment?
- Are stitches removed? When?
- When can I resume normal activity and exercise?
- When do I return for follow-up care?
- It may take several months for the swelling to fully dissipate. As it does, your new contours and enhanced self-image should continue to develop.
